Some recent research shows that female Magpie are more likely to sing with higher intensity and greater dynamic range than the males.
Our Distillery is within the territory of a family of six Magpies (4 females and 2 males) and they are vocal in their song and fierce in defending the space from other Magpies and birds. We've seen them once drive off a small hawk. They are fascinating to watch and great company.
